Super Bowl and Execution

NOTICE: I know you all wanted an update on what happened to the good Doctor Ken Lewis, the loser of the Lead-Pipe Lock contest. Well, he is being executed tonight, so there's your update. You will get a song list and details after the fact.

Now I regrettably have to talk about the Super Bowl.

Before the playoffs started, I stated to my brother that the Steelers have no shot at winning the Super Bowl (which was so stupid, never bet against the Steelers). I said this because although their defense is great, their running game isn't very good (usually their calling card) and the Ben Roethlisberger smoke and mirrors way of playing quarterback cannot carry them all the way. I didn't think they could beat the Titans, Panthers, Giants or Eagles (probably the four best teams in the playoffs). But of course, in typical Steeler fashion, they don't have to play a single one of those teams and I look like a damn fool. It's not the first time.

In 2006, I bet my friend Rob (aliases: CaptainRoBry, DoctorRoBry, Frankenberry, Anonymous) on 20-5 odds that the Miami Heat would not win the Championship. Whether I tell you my reasoning or not, it's still pretty incredible that I reverse picked the champion so easily. I'm still angry about that pick because they met up with one of the wussiest teams this decade and that series was also at least subconsciously fixed. What I'm saying is, I have a history of making statements out of anger and then the exact thing I said would never happen happens.

I have been a witness to the charmed existence of the Pittsburgh Steelers for too long. I picked the Cards to lose in the first round. I'm obviously picking the Steelers...right? ...Wrong!!

Really only two reasons:

1. I think I convinced my Dad to take the Cardinals straight instead of with the points so I would feel pretty bad if I didn't even pick them to win.

2. Remember last year when the Cards weren't really even good and they beat the Steelers? I think I believe in the Whisenhunt advantage. We often compare teams as if there is a singular scale of goodness but there is really something to be said for one team just having another team's number. I think Whisenhunt might be the only coach in the league who holds the secret to stopping Ben Roethlisberger. The thing of it is, "Big Ben" is not a good quarterback. He is a big fat idiot who can't do anything unless the play breaks down. Every few games he gets exposed and loses a game single handedly. I'm banking on Whisenhunt being able to make this one of those games.

GO CARDS!!!!

On the other side of the coin, I picked the Cards to lose in the first round. What am I supposed to do here?!?!

NBA Mid-Season update

This could be called something like, "The 2nd half preview," but that doesn't really make sense. Let's just talk about where we are in the season right now, shall we?

Western Conference

I was mostly wrong about the Rockets in predicting them to win the Finals. I was also wrong in giving them a 30% chance to keep all their guys healthy during the season, it was 0% and I apologize. However, I think that they are the answer to the question, "who can give the Lakers a series in the Western Conference?"

First of all, I doubt the Lakers get knocked out before the Finals. I think the Rockets WOULD beat the Lakers in a first round seven game series. But to do this, the Rockets would have to get the eight seed which they won't. If they have to play another team, I'm not sure they can beat anybody else, and if they get past a team in the first round, there's no way everyone's healthy for 2 WHOLE series. This is really the most depressing team in the league because, for whatever reason, their injuries seem inevitable. My point is, in the 1 in 1098234809285 chance that the Rockets are healthy by the time they play the Lakers in the playoffs, I think they win. That whole paragraph might be totally useless on account of the odds I put up. What am I doing with my time...

One myth that is out there that you, the public, should not be fooled by is the idea that the Spurs are a threat to the Lakers. It's becoming more and more obvious why Avery Johnson was fired. His voice is obviously hugely obnoxious and he continues to spout ridiculous bullshit (not the good kind). He has said in the last few weeks these two beauties:

A. "...but I don't think Boston needs home court advantage to win the Eastern Conference Finals."

B. "...but the Spurs will be there in the end."

OK, the second one wasn't an exact quote, but you get the point. It's so gutless to say someone will "be there in the end" because what the hell does that mean?? Especially when it's the Spurs. He also said that the Spurs are "very deep." ...Wrong. After Duncan, Parker and Ginobili, the rest of their roster could all be considered at least on the outside edge of the term "scrub." They're also old as old can be with a great coach who happens to be owned by the coach of the best team in the conference. It is not the Spurs' time, quit being a woman and say so.

Coming out of the West pick:
Lakers

Eastern Conference

Now to address comment A. Really Avery? REALLY? They don't get passed Atlanta last year without home court. The real issue, which should be obvious, is that regardless of home court, they will lose to Cleveland.

One issue that has come up in the East is the rise of Orlando. With all those road wins against Western Conference teams, everyone has been forced to accept them as one of the elite teams. Well, not this Buddies!

Orlando is a team that thrives on hot shooting. Do I really have to say anything else? Picture this team beating either Cleveland or Boston. Can you even do it? I'll give you a few reasons that Orlando still doesn't matter:

1. Their crunch time scorer is Hedo Turkoglu. Again, what more do I have to explain? Is that working in the playoffs? What is with these question marks? Hedo Turkoglu (and I would be pronouncing it "Turk a glue" even though I know it's not how you say it as a sign of disrespect) cannot win you a playoff series against a good team.

2. You know else can't do that? ...Dwight Howard. It's hard to say bad things about this guy because he's such a nice guy and so fun to watch dunk. If I wasn't rooting so hard against this team in general, it would be hard to say this, but Dwight is a choker and it's written all over his face. I'll make the statement right now that he won't get out of the East his whole career and I'm not even nervous.

3. Jameer Nelson. Another guy that will be counted on that shouldn't be counted on. This is an an OK shoot first point guard that has been super hot lately. He said last season after they lost to Detroit that they were the "better team." That is the sign of a loser.

That's three reasons that don't involve the phrase, "3-point shooting teams can't win in the playoffs (even though it's true)."

Now for the important issue of who the Cavs should trade for (YESSS!!!!!).

I don't feel like going through the options so I'm just making the claim of the guy I want. Antwan Jamison.

The trade is this: Wally Szczerbiak and a first round pick for Antwan Jamison, Darius Songaila and a 2nd round pick. The Wizards are actually under the cap in that situation and the Cavs get the only decent person on the Wizards and another Lithuanian who is of no consequence.

I know a little about Antwan anyway, but after I heard of him as an option, I looked up his Hollinger Scouting Report on ESPN.com. The first thing it says is that he is incredibly good at moving without the ball and the last thing it says is that he is a "locker room sage." Moving without the ball?? Cleveland has the best passer in the game! Give me Antwan...gimme.

That's all for now. I just sent an email to ESPN in an attempt to get an internship with them so wish me luck! Later folks.

Cavs vs. Lakers

Hmmm...not great.

Things I noticed about this game:

* This game was officiated like the refs got together and said, "Let's show LeBron who's boss!" Every borderline call that LeBron gets 70% of the time everywhere else, he got 0 times and other calls that normal players get 100% he still didn't get. While this was happening, Vujacic was getting calls for L.A. On the other end, to begin the game, Gasol and Bynum offensively fouled the Cavs' terribly undersized bigs which was never called.

* Now let's get one thing straight, I DO like to complain about refs. I hate them during games I'm watching or playing in. That said, I usually calm down after games and realize I was just whining. It just looked like Cleveland got homered tonight, I'm sorry.

* Tonight's game should be taped, saved, and shown to Varejao's agent during negotiations this summer. Over the last few games, Andy has really proved he is simply not good enough to be a starting center in this league (at least not on a good team). Numerous times during the night, LeBron (or someone else) got the ball down low to him and he had to kick it out because he just isn't good enough to make a layup in traffic. It was painful. He also missed a bunch of free throws badly and played mediocre defense. He is a valuable bench player, but that's it.

* JJ Hickson played pretty well. He was probably our best big tonight. That's both bad and good. It's never good when a rookie plays the best in a big game, but it's nice when a rookie plays well in a big game...you know what I mean? You know what I mean.

* That elbow thing is bothering LeBron. He couldn't hit a free throw tonight.

* This is probably how the Cavs are going to look for a while. Not great. At the same time, we've seen this before. Without Z and Delonte, the Cavs are about as good as they were in the past few years. The names have changed, but they're still going to have to junk it up and hope LeBron can do it at the end.

* On a related note, I really hate Sasha Pavlovic. There's just nothing more I can say. LeBron is clearly hesitant to pass it to him which is not the case with Delonte. The chemistry was so good when everyone was healthy because everyone was where they belonged and LeBron trusted them all. Now, when he sees Sasha open for 3 or Varejao open for a 15-footer, he hesitates. The balls stalls and it's back to LeBron on 5 offense. The next month or so is going to be much different than the juggernaught we all got used to watching early this season. We needed to be brought down a peg though, and this is the time for it to happen (if there is one). On the bright side, this tough streak we're about to go on will adjust the gambling odds on a Cleveland championship in the Cavs' favor. For all of you who were pissed off they missed out on 12-1 odds to start the season, don't be discouraged by this stretch we're about to go on, just be thankful for the more favorable odds.

* I really hate that Lakers team, and it's not even all Kobe. In fact, Kobe might be the second most decent guy on the team (behind Fisher). Bynum, Gasol, Radmonovic, Vujacic, Odom, Farmar...ughhh. There's really no information here, I'm just so angry.

* In the end, I'm sickened but not worried. It sucks to lose to a team that is so clearly on the wrong side, but the things the Cavs struggled with would be fixed by Zydrunas Ilguaskas and Delonte West playing. Let me reiterate, there are going to be struggles with those two guys out of the line up and the Cavs will probably end up the two seed at the highest. No big deal, but I think it's true.

* Has Kenny Smith lost his marbles? While trying to defend the Kobe Killer Instinct Myth, Kenny actually said, "Forget the playoffs, just look at what he's done this week." He also said that it's clear from this game that the Lakers are the better team without mentioning the loss of Z. That seems like just lazy reporting. I'm not sure that show is going to last too much longer with the Barkley situation and the rise of Chris Webber as an analyst on NBATV. It had a good run.

* Honestly, I'm so pissed off right now even though I know I don't have good reason to be. Ugghhh...I'm going to sleep.

Hate.

I don't want to make these picks. Take them and go away.

Philadelphia at Arizona

These are spite picks so just know that I have hate in my heart when you're reading this.

I don't really see any reason why the Cardinals wouldn't win this game. Fitzgerald is the best player on the field, Andy Reid usually gets tired at around this point in the playoffs and gives up, McNabb is still a choker, God is on Kurt Warner's side, and the clincher: The Eagles BLEW OUT Arizona already this season, so they'll probably lose this time. I know that doesn't make sense, but that's what makes it right.

Pick: Cardinals

Baltimore at Pittsburgh

I feel like I know how this game is going to go so I'm picking against it. This is bound to be a tough luck loss for the Ravens, right? We've seen it already this season. Is Flacco really going to win the Super Bowl? ...Yes! He will! This season is so dumb. The biggest nerd ever known as "Joe Cool" is going to have his unibrow all over my TV and it's gonna be great, terrible, confusing...everything. Are we ready for Joe Flacco on the cover of Esquire? You better be. We are living in the Twilight Zone.

Pick: Ravens

Now go, leave me in peace.

Comments and Apologies

And by "apologies," I am referring not only to the apology from myself for going 1-3 on a playoff weekend, but the one the NFL owes to me and the rest of its loyal viewers. I'm really not even mad about my 1-3 record last week (not even against the spread...yeeesh). I'm just not terribly satisfied with what I saw out of any team this weekend. The Ravens beating the Titans...hey, that's fine. Those are basically the same team anyway, It's nice to see a rookie QB do this well...the game was a little fluky, but fine. The Eagles taking down the Giants...I guess that makes sense. But Arizona CRUSHING Carolina?? Jake! What are you doing!?!? He was playing like he had just thrown up and pooped his pants in the locker room because he was so nervous about playing a team that was WAY worse than his own. You wanted to say, "Hey Jake, why are you doing this when all you have to do is NOT this?" Also, it is fairly unforgivable when Carolina is out-rushing attempted by Arizona...at Carolina....I don't even know what to say. I always used to hear that Jake Delhomme is some kind of big game QB...or like, a good one. Let it be known that Jake Delhomme is not a real player and should never even be mentioned in a scouting report unless it is something similar to, "Well, we always have a chance when Jake Delhomme is on the other team."

Anyway, picks will be coming shortly although I don't even really feel like doing them.

Right now I'd like to ease my readers (I can say "readers" because there are at least two of them) into a new idea. I'm going to try to include guest bloggers, mainly because that would make things easier for old Buddies over here, and it would also give all of my theoretical readers examples of people I talk to and perhaps where I'm coming from (both of these comments come from potential guest bloggers). We'll start with this comment from my good friend, Mr. Bowl Bradington:

Nice post Buddies... I think the best way to sum up LeBron is the following.

He is the second most unstoppable force I have ever seen on offense, only behind Shaq in his prime, and he obviously brings much more to the table by creating for others. He has perhaps taken the step to best defender in the league this year as he plays passing lanes better than anyone and seems to get a swat from behind at least every other game. He also possesses the size and quickness to guard literally everyone on the court except true centers which can be said about no one else in the league. In my opinion he is a consistent jump shot away from being the best player ever (obviously he also needs to win championships) at the age of 24. I am also extremely excited to see what LeBron does in the playoffs as he has elevated his play for them every year and I am kinda scared to see what he has in store this time around.

I agree with all of your NFL picks except I think the Ravens will beat the Titans. The Titans defense is great at stopping the other team but the Ravens defense is great at scoring on the other team. Ed Reed and Ray Lewis would both be on the first team all-time NFL starting defense.
I wish I had the guts to pick the Cardinals because I love me some Fitzy but Kurt Warner is likely to turn the ball over 27 times and their defense is sub par.
I am confident that the Steelers will win but I would call it a lock if Leftwhich were playing instead of Big Ben.

Keep the posts coming...

First of all, I love that Bowl tells me that my posts are nice. This is obviously why I'm friends with him.

Bowl has some good points about LeBron. My brother and I were discussing this and we decided that he is a combination of three players: Jordan, Magic and Shaq. Jordan because of how insanely efficient he is and future dominance that I am guilty of assuming he will possess in the league (I would hate to jinx him, but he seems to welcome all jinxes and then eat them and grow another inch). The Magic comparisons are sort of obvious. The all-inclusive nature of his super stardom is unusual. While Jordan was basically a perfect singular player when he entered the league, he hadn't yet learned the lesson that baseball taught him, that not everybody's talents were as limitless as his. Magic and LeBron are always friendly and smiling. They are also both great passers and oddly versatile, both being able to play most all positions (mentioned by Mr. Bowl). The Shaq comparisons come from the difficulty officiating him and his physical freakishness. I've never seen two people so large be so proportional at the same time (I think this is why guys like Shawn Livingston, and myself, tear up their knees and LeBron doesn't. If you shrunk LeBron, he would look like a stocky running back while Livingston would just be short and scrawny).

Another thing Bowl mentioned is the jump shot. This year, I've noticed LeBron has improved his spot up jump shooting/in rhythm jump shooting. He used to only make jump shots while fading away or off balance. This is an odd thing to a man like myself, who loves spot up shooting. I've seen plays this year where the ball is just swung to him around the horn and he just knocks it down. That said, his J is still mediocre at best and his elbow is still out. His shooting % this year has jumped from around 48% to 51% which is incredible considering our criticisms of his shooting. LeBron WILL learn to shoot fairly well by the time he is 30 at the very latest to maintain his dominance the way Jordan developed his turn around in his last few years. But before that happens, I still believe his shooting % can stay high and possibly increase just by virtue of the improvement of and possibly the acquiring of new, better teammates.

What all this adds up to is that the world is in trouble...the WORLD.

Bowl looks pretty smart with his NFL picks. Frankly, I'm not terribly happy about it. Next (and last) comment:

Buddies, I want to hear your thoughts on UF's Tebow. Do you think, like the Fox commentators for the BCS bowl, that he is "an extraordinary young man?" Or do think more along the lines of Matt Mead, and find him more comparable to an ass-face?

The only real opinion I have regarding Tim Tebow's personality is that really religious people make me feel weird. I don't know if that constitutes being called and "ass-face," but I'm also not sure it makes him the other thing. I really can't stand thanking God for sports success and everybody does it, not just Tebow. The thing about Tebow is that God seems to actually be on his side in most match ups, which doubly pisses me off. As you can see, I don't really root for the kid, but I don't really hate him either. Does that answer your question?

Cavs Note:

Delonte West broke his wrist on a pretty violent fall trying to swat the shit out of Derrick Rose the other night on a fast break, and we just found out that he will be out for 4-6 weeks. Ouch. Not only am I unhappy about the Cavs losing their starting shooting guard and resident goofball, I am devastated on a personal level. Delonte is a guy I would normally describe as something like, "my favorite player on the team," or, "favorite player in the league." I think it is now safe to say that he is my favorite person in the world. The only positive about the injury was how the entire bench came over to make sure he was OK. That was so cute and I'm not even being sarcastic.

Anyway, the Cavs won their first game with Sasha Pavlovic in the starting lineup (ighh...) in place of West. This recent rash of injuries happens to conveniently coincide with the toughest stretch of the Cavs' schedule. Whatever...

To Big Z and Brother Redbush: Stay strong.

A Couple Things...

After predicting the exact games Boston would win in the NBA Finals last year (1,2,4, and 6), the point differential of the Christmas Day Boston/LA game (nine), and the exact point differential of last night's Boston/Cleveland showdown (fifteen), I'm feeling pretty good about a few things.

One thing this means, is that I know the 3 major contenders pretty well. That would mean nothing on its own, of course, but I also happen to be growing more and more confident by the day that this Cavs team isn't just going to win the title this year, but we're "witnessing" (ha!) the beginnings of a dynasty.

I'm aware that it was just one game, but there is no way that Boston team has a shot against The Man this year. The "pundits" talk every day about "where game 7 will be played," referring to who is going to be in first in the East and how whoever is at home in game 7 might be more likely to win the series. The thing these people forget to mention is the fact that there is no way in hell this series is going seven. This Boston "Big Three" (aka, the "Biggest Bullshit Nickname Ever Earned or Unearned") is all softies. They were tougher than the Lakers last year making everyone, including myself, thing that maybe this Celtics team had some guts. What we forgot was that their opponent's gutty factor was less than zero. What was billed as one of the great Finals of all time was secretly full of soft stars that will not be a factor for the next ten years. That finals will be forgotten.

Why do I think Cleveland will become a dynasty? Because when you say LeBron is a type of player we've never seen before, you really mean it. LeBron is a legend in the making, and I don't know how to communicate this in a way that shows I'm not overstating it. My brother and I decided, barring spontaneous combustion, his range of status upon retirement is anywhere from top ten players of all time, to the best ever. The absolute worst he could do is top ten of all time. Somebody please tell me how anyone is beating this person from age 24-30. Anyone saying to themselves right now, "well, he's gone in 2010 anyway," should be ashamed of yourself. I've said what I needed to say.

FOOTBALL!

If my mistake last time was submitting my picks too early, I have pretty well overcompensated for that this week, doing them one hour before the first game. I don't really have an excuse.

Baltimore at Tennessee

All I can say when I think of this game is "ouch." These are possibly the two most painful teams to play in the league, the Steelers also being on that list (who, you will later find out, I believe the winner of this game will play in the next round). Both of these teams have pretty good running games and pretty bad passing games with QBs who are pretty terrible by playoff standards. The Ravens have better receivers and the Titans have better Running Backs. Really, the only way I can separate these two teams is one is at home and the other one isn't.

If you didn't know already, I'm picking the Titans. I love Jeff Fisher and I cannot trust Joe Flacco to win at Tennessee. The only reason I wouldn't pick the Titans to win the Super Bowl is that Kerry Collins is still mediocre at best (absolute best) at the end of the day. Tennessee also has the benefit of people sort of forgetting how good they were this season because they haven't played in a while. All the hype is about Ed Reed (deserved) and Haynesworth will probably score a touchdown today.

Titans over Ravens

Arizona at Carolina

This game is decidedly less interesting. Unless of course you're DeAngelo Williams' mother and love watching him break 50 yard touchdown runs several times during the course of one game. Everybody is being chastised for underestimating the Cardinals in the playoffs, but I'm going to keep doing it because I'm right. Congratulations, you beat a team which was supposed to be the worst in the league with a rookie QB at home. The Panthers MIGHT be the best team in the league (probably not) and ARE the best home team in the league (good thing you won that last game, Giants). Arizona is a pretty good home team and a shitty away team and a pretty mediocre team overall. While playing this game over in my head, I've decided the worst outcome for the Panthers is that Delhomme throws 5 picks and they win by 6.

Panthers over Cardinals

Philadelphia at NYG

Another team whose being over hyped because they shouldn't be here while forgetting the fact that they really should not be here. The Eagles won SUPER unimpressively (spellcheck says that is not a word but it also says "spellcheck" isn't a word), over ANOTHER team that doesn't belong in the playoffs, the Minnesota Vikings. Philly is one of the wussiest teams in the NFL and the Giants are very much the opposite. I can see this game being sort of close, but I cannot see New York losing. I've had enough Philly.

Giants over Eagles

San Diego at Pittsburgh

Instead of being another team who shouldn't be here, San Diego is probably just a team who shouldn't have been there when they were 4-8. All signs sort of point to the Chargers winning. The Steelers really aren't that good this year. Their defense is, of course, great and they have a big name quarterback. The problem is, Ben Roethlisberger is a little bit hurt, and when he's hurt, he's quite hideous. The Steelers also have problems running the ball which is unusual for a Pittsburgh team.

However, I'm basing my entire pick on the fact that the Steelers get so many bullshit wins and I'm sure one more is on its way. This team will NOT make the Super Bowl.

Steelers over Chargers

Now that I'm done with my picks, I can watch pregame for the first game!

Buddies Speaks

I just watched my first two picks taken down and to be honest, I saw it coming. 4 road favorites, one with a rookie QB and the other an historically lopsided match up. To be honest, the only pick I'm sure of is the Baltimore pick. And if that one doesn't work out, then I am a legitimate idiot. My first mistake was making all my picks before like, Tuesday. What was I thinking?? I guess we're all learning here.

I thought I'd answer some comments since I was complaining so much about how there aren't any. There were a total of four, which doesn't seem terribly impressive...and it's not. But I love it! It's the most I think I've ever had on anything. I should yell at you guys more often. In fact, I'm going to respond to a selection of comments throughout the short history of Buddies' Bullshit. Here we go.

What's wrong with ESPN? I guess I don't get to watch it during the daytime, but there is no way it could be as terrible as MTV. Last I saw, ESPN still shows sports. If you want to work for them, you should give them some ideas to make it better. Tear them a new one. And don't say that they should use more colorful language. Unless its part of a punch line or in some some sort of spontaneous moment, profanity always looks forced.

First of all, I still don't know who Rick is, but whatever. I guess that's technically a good thing.

There is plenty wrong with ESPN, and I'm aware how stupid it is that I'm criticizing it because I am trying to work for them for very low to no pay. I also watch it basically all day and there are some great things on it. However, the channel is an ALL DAY SPORTS CHANNEL. That channel should probably be the greatest thing to ever exist and it's not.

I could go through and complain about every show and person on the channel for whom I have a distaste, but that would take while. I think what is so dumb can be summed up by one show: E60.

I'm sorry, E60, am I watching sports to be depressed? Am I even really watching sports to think about anything above the most basic human thoughts? Not really. I dislike steroids and cheating and all that, but I do not want to go out of my way to hear about them. The whole reason they are issues is because we wish they didn't exist, not because we love to discuss them. Sports are the things we like to discuss and because of these "issues," it's making our useless conversations EVEN MORE useless and that just hurts. And what's with the whole black and white dramatic discussions about these mediocre stories? Nobody cares about these journalists!!! It's like you think we watch NFL pregame shows and wonder, "I wonder what Rachel Nichols looks like coming out of the subway," or, "I care about Jeremy Schaap's opinion about something." What's worse is that they force Bill Simmons do be on it sometimes which I have to watch. Could I be more conflicted about anything?? (Probably).

Cincinnati Reds are your Wild Card winners.

The Reds ended the season 74-88 last season and were 16 games out of the Wild Card. Thanks Rob.

I don't get why you (and others) believe that C.C. Sabathia is the best player in baseball. He is definetly talented, but what good is a player that can't perform in the clutch? He's basically just an overweight heartbreaker.

P.s. i love buddies!!

Hyman!, you have a point. Everybody should probably love Buddies. HA!!! Just Kidding!!! But seriously folks, C.C. Sabathia does choke in the playoffs and even did it a again last season. But to clarify, I didn't say he was the best in baseball, I said the best in the National League. For the record, the National League is crap.

I agree the Cavs don't need Monta Ellis, but not because he is anything resembling a mouse. He is ridiculously tough and strong for his size. His game is a smaller version on LeBron's (maybe with better shooting, butnot nearly as big and strong), and he won't be as effective with the lane already paced to stop King James.

The Cavs have no pieces to move anyway. They have been decent for too long and have never gotten the draft picks to supplement their star.

Its not like it really matters anyway, unless David Stern takes LeBron and JayZ to court, he(LBJ) is going to Brooklyn. If I were the Cavs, I would pretend this is baseball and trade him to a contender for a playoff rental.

But hey, the lottery is fun to watch every year too.

Ouch, Rick...ouch.

First off, I'm glad we didn't get Artest. Second, Monta Ellis is probably tough (hasn't played all season, fell off a moped....), but he is still a mouse. He is a 6 foot shooting guard! Pass. For your second thing about LeBron going to Brooklyn, I'll probably write a real thing about that sometime, so stay tuned.

I was as happy as anyone to see the Lakers and especially the Patriots fail in their championship efforts. But can this really be a "karma year" with Boston and New York being the winning cities? I say no, Boston deserves to lose every game they ever play in regardless of the sport.

Anyone who thinks that Buddies has ever, EVER, had a decent idea or theory is mentally retarded. Why would you ever root for teams that weren't cheating? You have to be a lying, cheating, dirty, asshole to matter. Buddies blows. I hate Buddies. Go Bowl.

This is Bowl and RoBry. I don't really have anything to add.

Not bad, I would just flop the Bengals and Browns. It's not because I think the Browns will be good, I'm guessing 8-8, it's because the Bengals are not good enough to go 8-8 with the injuries their team has already sustained. This division sucks.

Bowl was sort of right, but the Bengals actually ended up ahead of the Browns, so I claim victory. Suck it, Bowl

The Bengals are much more likely to go -8 wins and 24 losses than any other outcome. Their talent level is at the bottom of the league, along with their brain level. They also have to worst coach and the worst front office along with the worst personal conduct. All of their "key" players are injured and Rudi Johnson taste like old dingle berries. This division is already the worst and they have to play the NFC East...in which they would be lucky to pull off a 1-15 season.

I'm starting to suspect Frankenberry and CaptainRoBry are one in the same...

At least we found out the The Dallas Cowboys had the lowest "brain level" in the league.

I'd like to make one rule I live by clear: It sucks when your team loses, especially a big game or to be eliminated from the playoffs. I don't make fun of people when that happens because of how much it hurts when it happens to you. One corollary to that rule is that if you root for the Cowboys, Yankees, Red Sox, Celtics, Lakers, or your own team's rival, it's all fair game. I don't suggest that everyone should abide by this rule, I'm just saying that I do. It's your fault for rooting for the Cowboys, you deserve it.

(Omitted: Glenn left his entire list of picks on my comments area and I refuse to relive that horror. At least he had the decency to name himself "Buttfestival").

So, did you equate the Cowboys with the Nazis? That's pretty harsh, Buddies.

Again, the Cowboys are fair game.

I want to know more about the culmination of the Lead Pipe Lock Experiment. What songs were sung?? Details!

Maggs, way to pretend to be anonymous. I'll update everyone on this further when the it culminates in a performance for the ages.

Alright here is my obligatory comment... Your picks are good/obvious which means you are completely wrong based on this year's NFL.

As far as you being in good spirits goes, you should know that the Bengals still suck but on the bright side the Cavs are probably the best team you have ever been a fan of in any sport.

P.S.
Do you still want Kobe/LeBron arguments? I mean is it really questionable? I'll go ahead and answer. NO! LeBron is WAY better. If you want a long explanation tell me and I'll send one in (tell me where to send it).

P.P.S.
Buddies needs to quit being a bitch and post more blogs instead of calling out his loyal readers.

Bowl, I'll be in good spirits about the Bengals if I want, and yes, you are correct about myself and the Cavs.

P.S. No, it's not questionable, but everyone has friends who say that Kobe is clearly better and I'm trying to weed them out. I'm sure there's plenty of assholes at Miami who love Kobe, bring 'em on.

P.P.S. That's fair.
