The Denver Broncos....Why?

ESPN just flashed a Broncos time line on my TV screen and I threw up in my mouth a little. Let's analyze:

-Denver Broncos Fire Mike Shanahan

Ehh...mm..mmhhmmmm...

Honestly, I have no idea still why this happened and I almost forgot how angry and confused I was when it did. The problems with the Denver Broncos included:

1. Questionable character of wide receivers

2. Extremely mediocre running backs who can't stay healthy

3. One of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL

The fact is, making the playoffs with that defense would have been a miracle. Denver was still on track as a rebuilding project with a franchise quarterback (we'll get to this later) and a great coach...just confusing. Why'd they do it? Oh yeah...

-Denver Broncos Hire Josh McDaniels

I forgot. We have to make the NFL an incestuous Belichick pool of filth. Credentials: The Patriots won three Super Bowls, Charlie Weiss is one of the most unpopular and unlikable and unsuccessful coaches in Notre Dame's history, Romeo Crennel was hired, fired, and in between sucked horribly for the Cleveland Browns, and now, Josh McDaniel...well...he did this.

-Josh McDaniel Tries to Trade Jay Cutler for Matt Cassell
I've just infuriated myself by typing this. Let's review: Jay Cutler, one of, if not THE best young quarterback in the NFL for a career backup who had a solid season in an extraordinarily system driven situation. And when I say "career backup," let's remember that that includes college. If you are Josh McDaniels and you want your system guy, fine, but GET IT DONE. Don't offend an extremely competitive hothead quarterback by trying to trade him for some Belichickian stiff.

-Denver Announces They Will Trade Cutler

Unbelievable. This off-season, the Broncos went from having a Hall of Fame coach and a young, super talented old-school quarterback, to having high drama, an unproven coach and no quarterback. That is nice work. Did Cutler overreact? I guess. Do I blame him? No way.

Side Note: If I have to hear Trent Dilfer say that Jay Cutler doesn't have the intangibles to be a franchise quarterback I'm gonna freak out. You know what Trent? You don't have the tangibles to be a franchise quarterback. You are just another one of these guys who sucked and likes to hate on guys who are better than you. Jay Cutler, right now, is better than Trent Dilfer ever was...by far. Thanks.

In the end, maybe it's the right call to trade Jay. Josh McDaniels clearly wants to run a strict system with a faceless do-nothing quarterback at the helm, similar to when Bill Belichick took over the Browns, traded gunslinger Bernie Kosar, and started Vinnie Testeverde. Jay Cutler is a Bernie, not a Brady. Speaking of the Browns, here is what they should have done:

1. NOT hire Eric Mangini. Did they even contact Shanahan? Who knows. Instead, they got another boring-ass coach who will be a poor man's Belichick wherever he goes. I'm not a Browns fan and I still feel like I got screwed just by being in the same state as this guy.

2. TRADE FOR JAY CUTLER. DO IT. DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT.

What could be better for Cleveland than taking advantage of the stupidity of the team that ruined their lives so many years ago? Luckily for the league, the Browns are stupid and won't do either of these things. They'll continue to base their team off of streaky offense and shitty defense, just like the classic Cleveland teams!

  1. Buddies I didn't know where else to put this so I'm posting it here...
I need a baseball preview form you. The season starts tomorrow even though I will pretend like it doesn't until Monday because that is when it should. Anyway I want division winners, your World Series match up with the winner, and season award winners. A separate piece about the Indians and Reds might be nice or just extra about them. Whatever, you know what I mean.

    Get it done.
