I just watched my first two picks taken down and to be honest, I saw it coming. 4 road favorites, one with a rookie QB and the other an historically lopsided match up. To be honest, the only pick I'm sure of is the Baltimore pick. And if that one doesn't work out, then I am a legitimate idiot. My first mistake was making all my picks before like, Tuesday. What was I thinking?? I guess we're all learning here.
I thought I'd answer some comments since I was complaining so much about how there aren't any. There were a total of four, which doesn't seem terribly impressive...and it's not. But I love it! It's the most I think I've ever had on anything. I should yell at you guys more often. In fact, I'm going to respond to a selection of comments throughout the short history of Buddies' Bullshit. Here we go.

What's wrong with ESPN? I guess I don't get to watch it during the daytime, but there is no way it could be as terrible as MTV. Last I saw, ESPN still shows sports. If you want to work for them, you should give them some ideas to make it better. Tear them a new one. And don't say that they should use more colorful language. Unless its part of a punch line or in some some sort of spontaneous moment, profanity always looks forced.
First of all, I still don't know who Rick is, but whatever. I guess that's technically a good thing.
There is plenty wrong with ESPN, and I'm aware how stupid it is that I'm criticizing it because I am trying to work for them for very low to no pay. I also watch it basically all day and there are some great things on it. However, the channel is an ALL DAY SPORTS CHANNEL. That channel should probably be the greatest thing to ever exist and it's not.
I could go through and complain about every show and person on the channel for whom I have a distaste, but that would take while. I think what is so dumb can be summed up by one show: E60.
I'm sorry, E60, am I watching sports to be depressed? Am I even really watching sports to think about anything above the most basic human thoughts? Not really. I dislike steroids and cheating and all that, but I do not want to go out of my way to hear about them. The whole reason they are issues is because we wish they didn't exist, not because we love to discuss them. Sports are the things we like to discuss and because of these "issues," it's making our useless conversations EVEN MORE useless and that just hurts. And what's with the whole black and white dramatic discussions about these mediocre stories? Nobody cares about these journalists!!! It's like you think we watch NFL pregame shows and wonder, "I wonder what Rachel Nichols looks like coming out of the subway," or, "I care about Jeremy Schaap's opinion about something." What's worse is that they force Bill Simmons do be on it sometimes which I have to watch. Could I be more conflicted about anything?? (Probably).

Cincinnati Reds are your Wild Card winners.
The Reds ended the season 74-88 last season and were 16 games out of the Wild Card. Thanks Rob.

I don't get why you (and others) believe that C.C. Sabathia is the best player in baseball. He is definetly talented, but what good is a player that can't perform in the clutch? He's basically just an overweight heartbreaker.
P.s. i love buddies!!
Hyman!, you have a point. Everybody should probably love Buddies. HA!!! Just Kidding!!! But seriously folks, C.C. Sabathia does choke in the playoffs and even did it a again last season. But to clarify, I didn't say he was the best in baseball, I said the best in the National League. For the record, the National League is crap.

I agree the Cavs don't need Monta Ellis, but not because he is anything resembling a mouse. He is ridiculously tough and strong for his size. His game is a smaller version on LeBron's (maybe with better shooting, butnot nearly as big and strong), and he won't be as effective with the lane already paced to stop King James.
The Cavs have no pieces to move anyway. They have been decent for too long and have never gotten the draft picks to supplement their star.
Its not like it really matters anyway, unless David Stern takes LeBron and JayZ to court, he(LBJ) is going to Brooklyn. If I were the Cavs, I would pretend this is baseball and trade him to a contender for a playoff rental.
But hey, the lottery is fun to watch every year too.
Ouch, Rick...ouch.
First off, I'm glad we didn't get Artest. Second, Monta Ellis is probably tough (hasn't played all season, fell off a moped....), but he is still a mouse. He is a 6 foot shooting guard! Pass. For your second thing about LeBron going to Brooklyn, I'll probably write a real thing about that sometime, so stay tuned.

Shockey is great. Top 3 fantasy TE this year, not to mention being a douche is a great way to live. Go douches.
22 TEs finished ahead of Shockey in fantasy points this year, including Kevin Boss, his replacement in NY.

I was as happy as anyone to see the Lakers and especially the Patriots fail in their championship efforts. But can this really be a "karma year" with Boston and New York being the winning cities? I say no, Boston deserves to lose every game they ever play in regardless of the sport.

Anyone who thinks that Buddies has ever, EVER, had a decent idea or theory is mentally retarded. Why would you ever root for teams that weren't cheating? You have to be a lying, cheating, dirty, asshole to matter. Buddies blows. I hate Buddies. Go Bowl.
This is Bowl and RoBry. I don't really have anything to add.

Not bad, I would just flop the Bengals and Browns. It's not because I think the Browns will be good, I'm guessing 8-8, it's because the Bengals are not good enough to go 8-8 with the injuries their team has already sustained. This division sucks.
Bowl was sort of right, but the Bengals actually ended up ahead of the Browns, so I claim victory. Suck it, Bowl

The Bengals are much more likely to go -8 wins and 24 losses than any other outcome. Their talent level is at the bottom of the league, along with their brain level. They also have to worst coach and the worst front office along with the worst personal conduct. All of their "key" players are injured and Rudi Johnson taste like old dingle berries. This division is already the worst and they have to play the NFC East...in which they would be lucky to pull off a 1-15 season.
I'm starting to suspect Frankenberry and CaptainRoBry are one in the same...
At least we found out the The Dallas Cowboys had the lowest "brain level" in the league.
I'd like to make one rule I live by clear: It sucks when your team loses, especially a big game or to be eliminated from the playoffs. I don't make fun of people when that happens because of how much it hurts when it happens to you. One corollary to that rule is that if you root for the Cowboys, Yankees, Red Sox, Celtics, Lakers, or your own team's rival, it's all fair game. I don't suggest that everyone should abide by this rule, I'm just saying that I do. It's your fault for rooting for the Cowboys, you deserve it.
(Omitted: Glenn left his entire list of picks on my comments area and I refuse to relive that horror. At least he had the decency to name himself "Buttfestival").

So, did you equate the Cowboys with the Nazis? That's pretty harsh, Buddies.
Again, the Cowboys are fair game.

I want to know more about the culmination of the Lead Pipe Lock Experiment. What songs were sung?? Details!
Maggs, way to pretend to be anonymous. I'll update everyone on this further when the it culminates in a performance for the ages.

Alright here is my obligatory comment... Your picks are good/obvious which means you are completely wrong based on this year's NFL.
As far as you being in good spirits goes, you should know that the Bengals still suck but on the bright side the Cavs are probably the best team you have ever been a fan of in any sport.
P.S.
Do you still want Kobe/LeBron arguments? I mean is it really questionable? I'll go ahead and answer. NO! LeBron is WAY better. If you want a long explanation tell me and I'll send one in (tell me where to send it).
P.P.S.
Buddies needs to quit being a bitch and post more blogs instead of calling out his loyal readers.
Bowl, I'll be in good spirits about the Bengals if I want, and yes, you are correct about myself and the Cavs.
P.S. No, it's not questionable, but everyone has friends who say that Kobe is clearly better and I'm trying to weed them out. I'm sure there's plenty of assholes at Miami who love Kobe, bring 'em on.
P.P.S. That's fair.

Buddies sucks.
I think that sums it up.
Later folks.
Your responses just made me shit my pants. Everything about you sickens me and only one thing in this world is clear: I am not CaptainRoBry.
ReplyDeleteBuddies, I want to hear your thoughts on UF's Tebow. Do you think, like the Fox commentators for the BCS bowl, that he is "an extraordinary young man?" Or do think more along the lines of Matt Mead, and find him more comparable to an ass-face?
